Financial crisis: unmasking the truth

The way I see it, it is clear that we have to set our eyes on the unrestrained financial speculation and neoliberal politics to find the reason of  the economical crisis. These come together with the conservatives and the most radical right wing, who – I believe that not naively- support the unfettered capitalism. And what is more, they want us to believe that this is the essence of our liberties and welfare, even though it is the contrary.

We are beholding stunned how markets have the power and rule over everything. Markets hand out decisions, control governments, remove politicians, and have democracy abducted. But who are behind the markets? The haves, of course, as always throughout History. They are a few, but the are powerful. Their means are the big corporations, with more wealth and influence than the majority of nations. And the stock exchange, a perverse playing field for market timers and all sort of unscrupulous scavengers.

Without any restriction, Markets are ruled by selfishness and greed. That’s because I cannot understand liberalism and neo-cons, who support it. And the results are this: a financial crisis provoked by speculators, in which they are the only ones who get benefited, and who dictate the sacrifices that all the society has to do to escape. And meanwhile, rich get richer, and most people are impoverishing and having hard times.

All this said, I strongly believe that there is a solution. Things could be easily changed by introducing strong economical regulations, imposing taxes to financial movements, restraining the power of corporations, eradicating tax havens, and having strong governments to assure a progressive taxation, and a fair and more egalitarian distribution of the wealth.

What must happen? People are slept. Most citizens are not aware of the real situation. They have subdued to consumerism and biased propaganda. They believe they are free, although they only work to pay debts. They couldn’t have a good education because they didn’t have enough money, or quite the contrary, because they were made to believe that with such an easy life they didn’t need to study. Thus, they are easy preys, incapable of considering other options beyond the worn path.

But there is still hope, as we can see with movements as 15-M. Power must return to people, and people must believe that they can do it. It start with our vote, the education we give to our children, the way we buy things, etc. Let’s by all means do our share!
